YAKIMA - Ray Patterson, 57, of Yakima went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2005. He was born to Ray and Josephine Patterson and was raised and educated in Wapato. He married Vickie Parker on May 18th, 1970 and began a family. For 20 years he owned and operated Patterson's Custom Concrete before becoming disabled. Ray endured a long struggle with diabetes, in which he lost his eye sight, limbs and contended with dialysis 3 days a week for 9 years. Through it all his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ never wavered or weakened, it only became stronger. It became his very life line. Ray is a great example of John 14:27, My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives. The world did not give him his peace and the world could not take it away. His peace was grounded in his faith in God.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Patterson, four daughters Michelle and Chris Burch, Vicki Lynn and Todd Dorsett, Rita and Sean Gasseling and Kasandra. Along with six grandchildren Ashtin, Blake, James, Levi Dorsett, Joshua and Isabella Gasseling.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Josephine Patterson and a brother Julian Patterson.
Ray was loved and respected by everyone that knew him. Ray was a wonderful and committed husband and father. He was called by those that knew him "The man with a family."
Ray's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Which he was able to enjoy to the end. He died surrounded with the love of his family. We now rejoice with Ray in his home going to meet his Lord and Savior, where I am sure he has heard (Mathew 25:21) "Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord."
