Father Vincent was born in the Bronx, New York, on February 3, 1920, to Francis Augustus McDonald and Rose Alba Provo, and was baptized as Francis Augustus.
He received his habit in the Order of Carmelites through the North American Province of Saint Elias in 1939, when he entered the Carmelite Novitiate in Middletown, New York. At the conclusion of his Novitiate year he professed his First Vows on July 16, 1940, in Middletown, New York. He professed his Solemn Vows on July 16, 1943, in Middletown, New York, and was ordained to the Priesthood at Saint Simon Stock Church in the Bronx, New York, on June 7, 1947.
Father Vincent graduated from the Catholic University in Washington DC., with a B.A. in Philosophy and History in 1944, and a Master's Degree in History in 1946. From 1948 to 1955, Fr. Vincent taught at St. Albert's Junior Seminary in Middletown, New York. From 1955 to 1961, he was a teacher at Mount Carmel High School in Auburn, New York. From 1961 to 1964, he taught at St. Simon Stock School in the Bronx, New York. During that time he also served as Director of the Third Order of Carmelites until about 1970.
Father Vincent served as Pastor at St. Joseph's Church in Troy, New York from 1970 to 1976, and Our Lady of the Scapular in Manhattan from 1979 to 1982. He was Associate Pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Brooklyn, New York from 1982 to 1985. He also served as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Middletown, New York from 1988 to 1992; the Church of the Transfiguration, Tarrytown, New York from 1992 to 1996, and St. Joseph Church, Troy, New York from 1996 till 2000.
Father Vincent also served on several commissions - he was a member of the Provincial Council from 1955 to 1958; a member of the Preparatory Commission for the Provincial Chapter of 1982 and was a member of the Retirement Commission from 1994 to 2000. He also gave retreats for various Carmelite Sisters communities and Lay Carmelite groups and authored a number of articles for the "Scapular" and "Sword" publications. He also wrote "Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel with Office of the Dead" (Carmelite Rite), Scapular Press, New York, 1955.
Upon his retirement in 2000, Fr. Vincent spent about a year at St. Teresa's Nursing Home before moving to the Carmelite retirement house at St. Albert's Priory where he resided until his death. During the years that he lived at St. Albert's, Fr. Vincent assisted with Prayer Ministry at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. He died after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, aged 91.
Visitation and Funeral Mass were held at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 70 Carmelite Dr. Middletown, with interment following at the Carmelite Cemetery of Middletown.
