Birth: Jun. 8, 1887
Saint-Joachim
Quebec, Canada
Death: Dec. 8, 1952
South Bend
St. Joseph County
Indiana, USA

Uncle Ralph was baptized Raphael Brouillette the 9th of June 1887 and born the day before, in St-Joachim, Shefford, Quebec, Canada.

He is named after his godfather and Uncle Raphael Brouillette (his wife Philomene Helie, Ralph's godmother), his father Charles's older brother.

His year of birth is sometimes written on documents as 1888 and is in error.

He entered the USA at Newport, VT in 1895 with his parents and 7 siblings, my paternal grandfather being his youngest brother. They had left their farm in Sainte-Cartherine-de-Hatley (Katevale) Quebec. Their destination was Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts to work in the cotton denim mill, furniture, and other woodworking shops.

He entered the US Army at Camp Devens, later Fort Devens, now after decomisioning just Devens, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA to serve during WWI.

He was married twice, divorced his first wife, Elsie Mae Ball Brouillette Graves whom he married 7 Sep 1917, in Fulton County, Indiana, and lived a common law marriage with his second wife, Violet, as far as the family knows. He had no children.

His given name on the 1900 US Census was written clearly as Delphie. His surname is in error on his US Military headstone application and on the headstone. He used the given name Ralph in the USA.

Ralph eventually settled in South Bend, Indiana after WWI and worked for Studebaker.
