Born July 8, 1940, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Harold Edward and Emma Grethel McCoy Michael.
He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
He attended the Highland School and Berkeley Springs High School. Mr. Michael had worked in the timber business in sawmills, hauled pulp wood and retired as a heavy equipment operator from General Motors in Martinsburg. He served with the U.S. Army from 1958 - 1961. He enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Judith Elaine Muson Michael, at home; five daughters, Tonya M. Moore, Theresa L. Yost, Terri J. Marshall and Mary A. Moore, all of Berkeley Springs, and Christina L. Stone, of Hedgesville; four sons, Todd R. Michael, Mark A. Hill and David C. Michael, all of Berkeley Springs, and Craig R. Michael, of Needmore, Pa.; two sisters, Emma M. Stotler, of Berkeley Springs, and Lynda C. Tracey, of Fayetteville, Ark.; four brothers, Joseph D. Michael, Billy L. Michael and Gladston L. Michael, all of Berkeley Springs, and Harold E. Michael, Jr., of Kilspell, Mont.; 12 grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Randi N. Michael, one sister, Marvalene M. Cain and two brothers, Don R. Michael, and an infant, Rodney Michael.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. Dr. Bob McDonald-Walker officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home which will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Building Fund of Highland United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 727, Berkeley Springs, 25411.
