John "Jack" Zabrowski, age 77, Eland, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Langlade Memorial Hospital, Antigo.
He was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Galloway, the son of the late Adolph and Anna (Wanserski) Zabrowski.
Jack was married to Kathleen Cook in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1978. In 1987, he was then united in marriage to Genevieve Wierzba in Wittenberg. She survives.
He was a World War II and Korean War veteran serving in the Navy and the Air Force. Jack worked for American Motors, Milwaukee, retiring in 1989.
He was a member at Holy Family/St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg, and the Elderon Memorial Post No. 8068 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved listening to polka music.
In addition to his wife, Genevieve Zabrowski of Eland, survivors include one son, Dr. John (Connie) Zabrowski Jr., Edwardsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, John (Althea) Zabrowski III and Ashley Zabrowski; three stepchildren, Renee (Jack) Connor, Dallas, Robert (Kathleen) Kofer, Medina, Ill., and Coleen (Jim) Alcox, Dyer, Ind.; seven step-grandchildren, Robert Majka, John Connor, Kevin Connor, William Connor, Christopher Connor, Rebecca Connor and Sarah Connor; and four step-great-grandchildren, Nememiah, Kayliegh, Abigail and Nathan.
In addition to his first wife, Kathleen, and his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hubert, Ferd, Stanley and Harry; and one sister, Agnes Vertiel.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Holy Family/St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Galloway, with military rites conducted by Elderon Memorial Post No. 8068 VFW. The Rev. Richard Stajniger, O. Praem, will officiate.
