Earl Ward, 74, of Conway died yesterday (Nov. 28, 1991) at The Heritage Center.

Born Jan. 4, 1917, at Greenbrier, a son of Daniel and Nancy Henson Ward, he was a retired Conway barber and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors are his wife, Mildred Fason Ward; a son, Bob Ward of Yukon, Okla.; two daughters, Earlene Russell and Betty Sue White, both of Conway; two sisters, Ruby Alma Maddox of Conway and Pearl Reedy of Cabot; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home with the Rev. George Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbeareres will be Bill Ellzey, Bud Talley, Phil Roscoe, Bill Johnson, Freeland Spears, Dean Spears, Charles Wood, and Ernest Duran.

Earl Ward, 74, of Conway, a retired barber, died Thursday. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Survivors are his wife, Mildred Ward; a son, Bob Ward of Yukon, Okla.; two daughters, Earlene Russell and Sue White, both of Conway; two sisters, Ruby Maddox of Conway and Pearl Reedy of Cabot; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

J.F. O'Kelley was installed last night as president of the Civitan Club in a program at hotel Bachelor.
M.M. (Bush) Satterfield, retiring president, was the installing officer. Other new officers include Herbert Frenkel, vice president; Virgil White, president-elect; Collins Isom, secretary; George W. Cummings, Jr., treasurer; and Earl Ward, Dick Mason, Buford E. Robins, Wayne Sims and Allen Meachum, directors.
O'Kelley announced the appointment of R.E. Dickson as sergeant-at-arms and Howard G. Moore as chaplain.

December 12, 2000:

Twenty-five outstanding Faulkner 4-H club youths were recognized at the county achievement banquet held at the Hotel Bachelor. Certificates were awarded to the clubs and leaders for their achievements during the year. The event was sponsored by the Faulkner County Farm Bureau chapter and the Faulkner County Farmers Association. Tommy Nabholz was the toastmaster for the banquet. Special music was furnished by Miss Freda Lou Wilson, a freshman at Hendrix College. The invocation was given by Rev. Allen D. Stewart. Pat Gibbs, a Sebastian County 4-H clubber, was the principal speaker. Mary Bob Foreman was also a speaker for the event.
Ottis J. Burris was re-elected consul commander of the Conway Woodmen of the World Camp. Other officers for 1951 were O.T. Sims, Earl Ward, Garland T. Bradley, Robert H. Burris, V.M. Hendon and Thomas D. Stapleton. Earnest Duran, George Lachowsky and Karl Ford were managers of the camp. A.C. Edwards was the leader of the 1951 drill team.

Conway barbers said they would start closing their shops each Thursday afternoon. Other business establishments usually waited until May or June to start the Thursday closings. The following barbers agreed to close: Charles Janski, H. G. Yarbrough, Cecil Lane, V. M. Harmon, F. B. Matthews, L. L. Prince, E. M. Womack, D. C. Stewart, W. O. Presley, Doyle Goode, W. A. Goode, Fred Hobbs, Ernest Duran, Earl Ward, R. L. Johnson, Minor Nichols and A. C. Sharp.
