died on Wednesday

Age 98 years, 7 months, 4 days

Wife of the late Harry Horton Sr.

Mother of Margaret Florence Horton, Harry Horton Jr., John B. Horton, and Frank L. Horton, Loretta DeSanto, and the late Harold H. Horton, Naomi Ruth H. Stewart, and Ida Jeanette Horton.

Daughter of Florence Luana Kane Wisner and Frank Lester Wisner.

Sister of Myrtle Luana Wisner Luartes.

Daughter-in-law of the late Margaret Gladney and John B. Horton.

Mrs. Marion Wisner Horton was a native of Rockville Centre, New York, and had lived in Moorestown, New Jersey, since 1930.

Marion Adelaide Wisner Horton was honored as one of New Jersey's "outstanding mature workers" in 1990, the award given to her by Governor Jim Florio.

Mrs. Horton was a secretary and receptionist for Family Service of Burlington County for 17 years before retiring in 1995 at age 93. Previously, she worked as a practical nurse for a Moorestown pediatrician and as a private nurse for area families, especially those with newborns. During World War II, she worked for Burlington County Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly.

Mrs. Horton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moorestown, where she was active in the American Baptist Women's Mission Group and in a weekly afternoon Bible-study group.

She wrote letters and cards to the sick, shut-ins, and missionaries. She was caring and nuturing all her life. She loved people, walking, the outdoors, and enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and cooking. She will be sadly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Horton, her daughters Ida Jeanette Horton and Naomi H. Stewart, her son Harold H. Horton, her parents Florence Luana Kane Wisner and Frank Lester Wisner, and her sister Myrtle Wisner Luartes.

A Memorial service was held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, 5 September 2000, at the First Baptist Church, 19 W. Main St., Moorestown. A private burial took place at Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken, New Jersey.
