Margaret Anne was the daughter of Henry and Anna Margret (Myers) Stevens. Her family were farmers in Cisne, Illinois where they settled in 1853. Unfortunately she was orphaned when she was six years old and was left in the care of her paternal grandmother, Anna Kendrick Stevens. However, three years later, her grandmother died and "Maggie" became the responsibility of her brother, Andrew Stevens.
Margaret was a very good student and after completing her schooling at the age of 16, she taught school for about a year.
Margaret Anne married three times:
1st Moses Fearn July 1886. Marriage dissolved because she was underage.
2nd Henry Carl Clevenger in Wayne County, IL Dec. 6. 1888. They produced two known children, Benjamin and Iola Jane Clevenger and settled in Ridge Farm, Illinois. She filed for divorce.
3rd Zachariah T. Gorman October 21, 1898. Zachariah T. Gorman was a wonderful husband and provider for her children. No offspring from this marriage.
