Mrs. Sarah Kay Gibby Ayers, 88, of Eastanollee, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at her home.
Born March 17, 1923, in Stephens County, she was a daughter of the late James Calloway and Macy Kay Gibby.
She was a member of Tom's Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Ayers retired from Georgia Baptist Assembly and had worked at Coats & Clark and Toccoa Garment Company.
Family members include her husband of 69 years, Fred Ayers; a daughter and son-in-law, Eva and David McJunkin; granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Scott Elmer; great-grandchildren, Gabe and Aniston Elmer; brother and sister-in-law, Elgan and Reba Gibby; sister and brother-in-law, Maye and Hoyt Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ila Isbell, Edna Stowe, Velma Franklin, Hazel Anderson, Agnes Floyd, and Faye Anderson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, from the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Clack Stubbs and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.
Entombment followed in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
The following served as pallbearers, David McJunkin, Scott Elmer, Terry Free, Dan Ayers, Charlton Ayers, and Wendell Collins.
