Richard Lee Hofeling, age 61, passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday, February 26, 1999, after a long illness.

He was born on June 1, 1937 in Roseburg, Oregon to Thomas Frederick and Leah Irene Johnson Hofeling. He graduated from Murray High School and attended the University of Utah. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was employed by the Newspaper Agency Corporation for 40 years. He loved animals and was loved by them in return. Lee married Shirla Dean LeFevre and they had two sons. They were later divorced and Lee married Mary White Burtoft.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Richard Wade (Ronette) Hofeling, Payson, UT; and Derek Lee Hofeling, Sandy, UT; stepdaughter, Rosemary (Richard) Santoyo, Corona, CA; stepsons, Clifford R. (Priscilla) Burtoft, Rosamond, CA; and Danny M. (Marsha) Burtoft, West Jordan, UT; and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother; a sister Arlene (Donald K.) McCleary, Holladay, UT; five brothers, Thomas D. (Joyce) Hofeling, Sandy, UT; M. Blaine (Luana) Hofeling, Salt Lake City; M. Craig Hofeling, Holladay, UT; A. Ross (Jackie) Hofeling, Cary, North Carolina; and John M. Hofeling, Murray, UT. He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 4th, at 12:30 p.m., at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East. Friends may call Wednesday March 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple and Thursday one hour prior to the graveside services at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
