Maye kept house for a number of priests in the Madison and Sioux Falls area before her marriage to Theodore Payette. They moved to Puerto Rico where her husband taught school, and then moved to Minneapolis. Her husband died in Minneapolis. They had no children.

Maye spent her last years in Valley Manor in Rock Valley, Iowa and died March 1984. She was 93 years of age.

Mary (May) Payette, age 93, died Saturday, March 24 at Valley Manor Nursing Home.

Mary Fitzpatrick was born April 13, 1890 at rural Rock Valley. She married Theodore Payette. They lived in Puerto Rico and Minneapolis where he taught school. Her husband preceded her in death.

In June, 1978 she moved to Valley Manor. Services were held at St. Olaf Catholic Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 24. Burial was in St. Mary' s Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.
