Sarah Ann Carter married William Horne Dame Sept 9, 1856 in Salt Lake City Utah. She lived in Parowan Utah with two sister wives of William Horne Dame until after 1860.
She married David Carter in 1865 in California.

Pioneer Woman is Called by Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah N. Carter, aged 82 will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from 1025 Flower Street. Mrs. Carter was the widow of the late David Carter who was one of the vanguard of Kern county's pioneers. David Carter and his young wife settle in the Kern Valley 54 years ago, Until the coming of Mrs. Carter only two white women lived in the little hamlet, which in later years became known as Bakersfield.
The aged woman has resided here since 1865. Early in 1850 her father, then a resident of Indiana, decided to cast his lot with the golden west in a search for gold. Mrs. Carter was married in Salt Lake. Later she and her husband decided to move fuarther west. They came to San Bernardino and made their home there for several years, finally locating in the Kern valley.
Deceased is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Otto Lindgren and two grand-daughters Mrs. Hope and Mrs.L.A. Tratt. The remains will be placed in a vault in Union cemetery. Morton Undertaking company are in charge of the funeral arrangements.
