Moving to Squaw Grove (new Hinckley), DeKalb County, Illinois, via ox cart and boat, with parents in the fall of 1851. Educated by her mother a New England school teacher.
Moved to Sugar Grove in Kane County in 1858.
Moved to Peotone in Will County in 1866.
She attended Ripon College, Wisconsin one year. Then she graduated from Grand Prairie Seminary, Onarga, Illinois in 1871; in the classical course.
She taught in college for women at Kankakee. Later she taught school in Gilman, Illinois for 6 years.
She was interested in Missionary work; sent barrels of clothing, home canned fruit and magazines.
Her interests included: Ladies' Aid Society of church, the library and the Fortnightly Club.
