Paul was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces~862nd Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy.

He entered the Service from Indiana

According to the American Air Museum in Britain, Sgt. Prather was temporarily assigned to the 100th Bomb Group. "Died in accident on 19 March 1944 whilst on TD with the 100th BG.

"Prather and another armorer were killed when an RAF plane made an emergency landing at Thorpe Abbotts on March 19th and the plane struck their vehicle. Heckman said Prather was killed instantly by a prop and the other armorer was thrown from the vehicle. He (Prather) died of a fractured skull. He is buried at the Cambridge American Cemetery.
