George F. Engel
George F. Engel, age 71 years, a resident of Radisson, WI died at his home on Thursday, Dec. 12.
He was born in Milwaukee, WI on July 30, 1897. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Army in Milwaukee. He served with the 32nd Division Co. F 127th Infantry. he was awarded on April 1, 1919, the Distinguised Service Cross for Meritorious Service while in charge of Reconnaisance Patrol F-127th Infantry during Oct. of 1918. Following the war he returned to Milwaukee, WI, where he was employed as an Engineer for the AO Smith Co. in Milwaukee. In 1962 he came to Radisson to make his home. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Radisson, the Dave DeRosia American Legion Post #297 of Radisson.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Anna Engel, age 92, of Milwaukee; 3 daughters. Mrs. Virginia Doka(?) and Mrs. Robert Stengl, both of Grafton, WI, Mrs. Alfred Kuchenberger of Milwaukee; four sisters, Sister Elizabeth Engel-O.S.F. Alverno College, Milwaukee; Mrs. Mildred Strachota, Brookfield, WI; Mrs. Marcella Staadt of Milwaukee, Mrs. Beatrice Mosser of Milwaukee; two brothers, Joseph Engel of Menomonee Falls and Robert Engel of Milwaukee; also 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 10AM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Radisson with Fr. Eugene Konopka officiating. Interment was in the Radisson Cemetery. Recitation of the rosary was held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Hayward on Sunday evening at 8PM with Fr. Konopka officiating.
Military Rites were accorded at the grave by the memvers of the Dave DeRosia American Legion Post #297 of Radisson.
Pallbearers were Adam Silack, John Marchka, John Stasik, Ray Mleczko, Stanley Gutowski, and Joe Stasik.
