Michael was born October 23, 1956 in Kansas City, MO to Marion and Marie Lombardo. He grew up in Kansas City where he attended St. Gabriel Grade School and was a 1975 graduate of St. Pius X High School. One of his fondest memories was wearing number 53 for the St. Pius Warriors football team. After graduating from St. Pius he attended Northwest Missouri State University where he was a member of the Sigma Tau fraternity. After completing college, Michael began his career in the restaurant business with his lifelong friends Vic and his son the late Frank Fontana. He met his "little woman" Lisa Nigro and they were married for 16 years and have been blessed with their three children Annaliese, Marion, and Willie. Michael was a devoted family man. One of the things he enjoyed most was watching his children play sports, he was their number one fan. Michael's career for the last eight years took him to Scottsdale, AZ, where he rose to the position of Vice-President of purchasing for The Mastro Companies. Scottsdale, AZ was not only their home, but grew into an extended family. Michael's genuine personality and respect for others allowed him to enrich his life with new friends from President Clinton to celebrities. Michael was blessed with a rich life filled with love of his family and friends. Even though he lived in Arizona his home was always open to everyone. Michael and his sister Vicki were very close. They loved to talk and keep up on everything from their soap operas to the latest "dish". Michael cherished all the time he spent with his parents. They set the foundation he built his life on. Some of Michael's favorite past-times included traveling, golfing (even with his famous banana slice), shooting craps, and playing black jack. Michael's last chapter was capped off with his return to visit his family in Sicily with Tomaso, Tom, and Uncle Jerry. Even though Michael lost his battle with cancer, he lived everyday with the motto "I'm going to live until I die not die while I'm living." Michael will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts. His maternal and paternal grandparents preceded Michael in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Lombardo; his daughter, Annaliese Lombardo; his sons, Marion and Willie Lombardo; his parents, Marion and Marie Lombardo; his sister and brotherin-law, Vicki and Dr. James Mirabile; his nieces, Jovana and Nikki Mirabile; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cathy Nigro and Victor Chiaminto; brother-inlaw and sister-in-law, Anthony Michael and Anna Jo Nigro; and many close aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers: Mark Capra, Vince Civella, Ben Cuda, Carl Ferro, Mike Garozzo, Rick Lombardo, Mike Mastro, Joe Moretina, Kevin O'Rourke, Phil Pernice, Sam Scola, Tom Sciortino, Steve Thomas, Scotty Troilo.
