(Champion) Faulkingham, died Aug. 30, 2008 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after a fall in her home. Margaret was born Oct 29, 1925 in Alexandria, Virginia. She attended St. Mary's Academy, graduating in 1942. Margaret worked in the Pentagon during the war where she met Arvid. They were married Nov. 10, 1943, and after the war they moved to Prospect Harbor and eventually settled in Winter Harbor where Margaret was employed at the post office in 1963 as a postal clerk. She became postmistress Feb. 19, 1979, retiring from the postal service in 1987 after 28 years of service. She is survived by her husband Arvid; her children, William and wife Kitty; Michael and wife Georgette; Patrick and wife Becky, all of Winter Harbor; Mary and husband Abe Knowlton of Hancock; Rose and husband Dan Arnett of Winter Harbor; Margatet Manley of Manchester; and Mark and wife Leanne of Houlton; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Mary McGahey; her grandsons, Adam and James; and her granddaughter Patricia. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Sept. 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellsworth. She will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Winter Harbor.
