We are here in loving memory and to glorify God for the life of James William 'Bill' Brunk.
James William "Bill" Brunk, son of Elmer A. Delbert Brunk and Fannie Bell (Scott) Brunk was born MArch 31, 1922 in Stilwell, OK. he departed this life to be at home with the Lord on June 28,2002 at his home at the age of 80 years 2 months and 27 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Orvil Rexy Brunk and Raymond Austin Brunk; 2 sisters: Callie May Brunk and Elsie Dean Brunk.
Bill grew up in the Stilwell area and attended Zion Schools. He was honored with a High School Diploma in 2002. He volunteered for military service in the UNited States Navy in September of 1942, serving on the USS Cumming as a 2nd Class Petty Officer. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. For his service to our country he was awarded the Naval Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one silver star, the WWII Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
On February 24, 1946 He was married to the young and beautiful Ollie Bell Woodward. They made their home in Stilwell and to this union five children were born: John, Jim, Billy, Janet and Cathy. During his career as a farmer, he was given the distinction by the F.F.A. of an Honorary Chapter Farmer. he was awarded the State Farm Family of the Year in 1962. He served as a board member for the A.S.C.S. Office in Adair County as well as the Adair County Election Board, Church Board Member and numerous other church and civil offices. he was active in church and loved to sing about his Lord.
The true joy of his life was his family and Bill is survived by his loving wife Ollie Brunk of the home in Stilwell; 3 sons: John Brunk & wife Ann of Oakwood, GA, Jim Brunk & wife Wylene of Choctaw,OK and Billy Brunk & wife Janice of Stilwell,OK; 2 daughters: Janet Brunk and Cathy Matthews & husband Danny all of Stillwell,OK; He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
