Edmund E. Beyer Sr.
Former Sheboygan resident Edmund E. Beyer Sr., 78, of Abrams, died Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, following a long illness.
He was born June 22, 1908, at Hansk, Poland, the son of the late Alex and Adeline Lachmann Beyer.
He came to the United States in 1912.
On Feb. 5, 1929, he was married to Agnes C. Vernosh at St. Charles Catholic Chruch, Lena. She died April 6, 1984.
Mr. Beyer had lived in Sheboygan, where he worked with his brothers in an auto business. He then moved to the Superior and Lena areas. He worked at Mathey Implement in Lena for 17 years and for the state Forestry Department. He also worked for various Green Bay construction companies. Since November 1971 he had lived with his daughter at Abrams.
Mr. Beyer was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spruce, and St. Charles Catholic Church, Lena.
Survivors include six sons, Albert of Plymouth, Peter of Sheboygan, Edmund Jr. of Kaukauna, Edward of Oconto Falls, Alex of New London and Charles of Freedom;
Five daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Marcella) Meulemans and Mrs. Roger (Cathy) Erdmann of Kaukauna, Mrs. Bernard (Joyce) Van Roy of Wrightstown, Mrs. William (Jackie) Jones of Abrams and Mrs. Robert (Agnes) Karner of Greenleaf; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and a brother, Julius (Frieda) Beyer of Oconto Falls.
Mr. Beyer was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and three grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 11a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lena, with the Rev. Ralph Gillis as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Stiles.
Friends may call at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena, from 4 to 9 p.m. today. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Beyer's name.
