Mr. Arthur R. Braunel, 78, a resident of Route 1, Whitelaw since 1970, died early Monday morning, December 15, 1988, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Heymen will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Braunel was born January 30, 1908, at Manitowoc Rapids, Wisconsin, son of the late Edwin and Clara Johnson Braunel. He married Anne F. Buchner, September 30, 1933, at North Chicago, Illinois. The couple had owned and operated Braunel's Bar and Bowling Lanes in Manitowoc Rapids from 1942 to1972. He had also been employed by Aluminum Specialty Company for a number of years. Mr. Braunel was well known in this area as a Clarinet and Saxophone player and in 1928 joined The Roual Wisconsin Orchestra. He then started his own Orchestra known as The Art Braunel's in 1930 and played in this area until 1942 when it disbanded. Mr. Braunel was an avid hunter and fisherman and had been a member of The Whitelaw Sportsmen's Club, The Manitowoc County Tavern League and Manitowoc Bowling Association. The couple spent their summers at their cottage at Little Sturgeon Bay since 1946.

Survivors include his wife, Anne; Lee and Yvonne Braunel of Manitowoc, Glenn and Rose Braunel of St. Louis, Missouri and Tim and Marilyn Braunel of Green Bay; a brother Lenert Braunel of Manitowoc; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Blanche Sonnevick of Bethany, Oklahoma, Ruth Gulseth of Manitowoc, Edith and Arthur Jarosh of Manitowoc and Evangeline Bast of Manitowoc; six grandchildren, Denise, Andrew, Matthew, Joyanna, Zachary and Bryan. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Luella Braunel and Edna Frey and a brother, Raymond Braunel.

Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday prior to the time of services.
