First Sergeant, Company L, 107th Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Force. Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the French Croix de Guerre. From his DSC citation: "After all of the officers of his company had become casualties in the Battle of the Hindenburg Line, near Vendhuile, France, September 29, 1918, Sgt. Scott, although himself shot through the arm, assumed command and led it into effective combat. He refused to go to the rear, after again being wounded, but continued to advance until he was killed."
