William Roger McKinney, 80, of Higginsville died on August 21, 2001 at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington. He was born on September 14, 1920 in Schell City, the son of William Harvey and Mary Etta (Walker) McKinney. He married Ruby Irene Simmons on November 13, 1939. He served in the Army during World War II. He had been a resident of Higginsville since 1963 and was a retired parts manager from Lafayette County Truck & Tractor International Harvester. He was a member of Higginsville American Legion Post #223. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; a sister; and a daughter, Dolores Ann Flandermeyer. Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son, Steven Roger McKinney of Holden; three daughters, Frances Jones of Columbia, Rita Woodward of Lexington, and Linda Kay Bryan of Newport, Oregon; a brother, Dennis McKinney of Schell City; a sister, Mary Rachell Smith of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; sixteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hoefer Chapel with Dr. Greg Fine officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
