Allen Cass "Slug Anderson, 77, of 805 Jefferson St., died at 10:14 a.m. Friday (Jan. 21, 2000) in WCA Hospital
He was born July 26, 1922 in Frewsburg, the son of Carl and Dorothy Cass Anderson
A 1940 graduate of Frewsburg High School, he served in the 8th Air Force in both World War II and the Korean conflict. Prior to retirement in 1987, he was employed by Jamestown Metal Corp. as a brake operator.
He was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion and a lifetime member of the Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post 8647 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mayvill and the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent order of Vikings. He was a former member of the Carroll Lodge 1147 Free and Accepted Masons.
He was a sports fan, avid reader and enjoyed bowling and baseball.
Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia Annis, home he married Sept. 23, 1945; a daughter, Cheryl Bennett of Marietta, S.C.; a son, Robert Anderson of High Acres, Bemus Point; four grandchildren: Natosha Eason of Denver, Shawn and Scott Anderson of Jamestown, Stephen Bennett of Marietta, S.C.; a great-grand-daughter; and a brother Robert C. Anderson of St. Cloud, Fla.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Bennett.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan W. Anderson, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County or the American Heart Association
