Audrey Mae Beelner, 58, of Remsen, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospital at Iowa City.

Audrey Beelner was born Sept. 11, 1950, at Le Mars, the daughter of Louis and Doris (Arens) Wurth. Audrey was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at St. Mary Catholic School in Remsen from which she graduated in 1968. She then attended Tyler Beauty School in Le Mars from which she graduated in 1969. She was then employed at Tyler Terrace Beauty Salon in Sioux City and then at Twin Beauty Salon in Le Mars.

She married Mike Beelner Dec. 23, 1970, at Remsen. They made their home in Remsen where she operated her own beauty salon, Audrey's Mod Salon, in her home from 1973 until 1979. They then moved to rural Remsen where she operated her beauty salon from her new home.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Christian Womens Guild.

She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, golfing and playing pinochle with her sisters and mother.

Survivors include her husband, Mike of Remsen; her children, Aaron and his wife Crystal and their two children, Victoria and Sienna of Decatur, Ga., Emily and her husband Abdul Zubaid and their daughter, Ameena of North Liberty and Nicholas and his fiancée Chasity Rose, both of Iowa City; her mother, Doris Wurth of Remsen; six sisters, Judy and her husband Dick Majeres of Le Mars, Mary Wurth and her wife Kathleen Rosenbrock of Pacific Grove, Calif., Peg and her husband Royce Johnson of Iowa City, Jean Griffin of Canton, Ga., Marge and her husband Tim Dunn of Eagan, Minn., Marilyn Wurth and her husband Forrest Meyer of Coralville; and one brother, Michael Wurth and his wife Arlin of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis and a brother-in-law, Wally Griffin.

Memorial service was at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until service time at the church Thursday.

The Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen was in charge of arrangements.
