Kathleen S. Clay, age 41, of Van Wert, OH, died November 15, 2000, of complications from cancer surgery. Born October 20, 1959, to James and Patricia (Benfer) Clay, she taught special education in Van Wert and Lincolnview Schools in Van Wert County for 20 years. A member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, she was very involved in the Local and State Special Olympics Program and was active in various church activities involving youth and children.
Besides her parents, she is also survived by brother, Stephen B. (Teresa) Clay, Charlottesville, VA; sister, Karen Kroodsma, Saline, MI, and 4 nephews.
Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Friday, November 17, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, or one hour prior to service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, at First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, OH, Rev. Dr. James Dunaway and Rev. J.C. Collins officiating.
Burial Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church or Special Olympics.
