Son of Eugene and Clara Smith Alford, husband of Helen Walker.


SPARTANBURG - Malcolm Eugene Alford, 45, was electrocuted Monday while unloading lumber at a construction site. He was a supervisor for Palmetto Construction Company.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Reedy Creek Baptist Church near Marion. Burial will be in the church cemetery, directed by Smith Brothers Funeral Home.

Mr. Alford was born in Marion County. a son of Eugene and Clara Smith Alford.

Surviving are his parents of Marion County; his widow, Mrs. Helen Walker Alford of Seneca; two sons, Gene Hooks and Johnny Hooks of Virginia; two stepsons, Terry Holtsclaw of Gaffney and Jerry Holtsclaw of Seneca; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Phyllis Thrasher of Seneca; two sisters, Mrs. Muriel Buckmaster of Sarasota, Fla. and Rosalee A. Mouzon of Charleston; four brothers, Aubrey Alford of Cordelle, Ga., Tommy Alford of Lafayette, La., Smith Alford of Laurinburg, N.C. and Jerry Alford of Charleston.
