11 children were born in Indiana and 5 in Lewiston MN, for which the town was named.
Known to all as Smith Lewis.
Smith was a farmer and he realized the value of a railroad, In 1863, Smith Lewis donated 10 acres of choice level land to the Winona & St. Peter Railroad, they in turn named the new station "Lewiston ".
He married Mary Ann Ramer Sept. 1, 1836
