April 1, 1918 ~ May 3, 2012
Doris Chapman went home to be with the Lord on May 3rd surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Rubin and Emma Dunberg on April 1, 1918 in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. She moved to the NW at the age of 11 where she remained for the rest of her life.
Doris attended the University of Oregon earning a B.A. in Fine Arts, where she met her husband, Marvel Chapman. Together they raised 5 children; Yvonne, Doug, Debbie, Berta, and Bryan. She taught elementary and middle school in the Hockinson and Evergreen School Districts for 23 years, retiring from the Evergreen School District in 1980.
After retirement, Doris was very active in her grandchildren's lives and travelled the world with her friends and sister, Ruby. She was also quite involved in the Golden Heirs at Brush Prairie Baptist Church for nearly 40 years, where her husband was a pastor in the 1950s. She found joy in her hobbies of gardening, painting, and sculpting.
