Dorothy "Dot" M. Biers, 944 Coleman Ave., Sharpsville, died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday (10-21-00) at home following a brief illness. She was 79.
Mrs. Biers was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Conneaut, Ohio, to Herbert E. and Evelyn Randall Rood.
A 1939 alumna of Conneaut High School, she was a self-employed hairdresser for more than 35 years, working for McGonigle Funeral Home Inc. from 1967-99.
Mrs. Biers was an active member of South Pymatuning (Township) Community Church, and belonged to its Senior Friends Sunday school class and fellowship group.
She was an avid bingo player.
Her husband, Herbert E. Biers, whom she married May 6, 1944, died May 23, 1996.
Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Patricia H.) Palmer, Sharon; and Mrs. Nicholas (Linda C.) Pawcio, Warren, Ohio; two sons, H. Thomas, Dallas; and George David, Corpus Christi, Texas; a sister, Shirley A. Bowker, Laurel, Md.; three brothers, A. Duane Rood and Louis M. Newman, both of Conneaut; and William Newman, Florida; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Rood Jr.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday (10-24-00) in the funeral home, with the Rev. David L. Searle, pastor of South Pymatuning (Township) Community Church, officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
