HIRAM DAVID GIBSON Entered peacefully into rest in Hayward on May 22, 2006. He was 81 years old. Born in Arkansas on November 11, 1924, Hiram had served proudly in the Marine Corps during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He had retired after 22 years of patriotic and heroic service. He then went on to work for the City of Oakland as a jailor for the county and retired after 21 years. He remained active throughout life, whether playing poker with friends, attending Oakland A's and Raider games or tending to his garden. He will truly be missed. Hiram is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Bonnie and Gary Tanner of San Leandro, Doris and Sam Gibson-Kaeo of Concord, Alice Romero of San Leandro, and John Gibson of South Carolina. He will be deeply missed by his beloved grandchildren, Blair, Dallas, David, Lacey and Jamie. Hiram was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Queen Gibson in 2003. Visitation for Hiram will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the chapel.
