Herb Davison, 103, longtime Ogallala resident, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Indian Hills Manor.
Herbert Henry Davison was born April 3, 1909 in Hallam, Nebr., the son of Cyrus and Wilamena (Messman) Davison. He attended Ogallala Public Schools.
On December 2, 1933 Herb married Mary E. Wright in Julesburg, Colo. The couple resided in several locations including Norfolk, LaGrange, Wyo., and Ogallala. Herb helped in the construction of Kingsley Dam and was self employed for a short time. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for a short time. Herb was a carpenter by trade. Contractors he worked for
included Chas. Robacker, Gordon West, and Herb Blomenkamp. Herb helped build many homes in Ogallala. His hobbies included working with wood, playing cards, hunting, fishing, and going dancing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Mary, three brothers Warren, Harry, and Clarence; four sisters Beatrice Houpt, Marion Browning, Bernice Bloomberg, and Lois Hood and grandson-in-law Don Apolius.
Survivors include his children: Richard (Mona) Davison of Ogallala and their son Mike; Carole (Melvin) Dunn of Ogallala and their family Melvin (Barb) Dunn, Beth (Lonnie) Hansmeier, Laura (Louis) Rivas, and Shiela Apolius; Karen (Jack) Green of Ogallala and their family Shelly (Glenn) Williams, David (Julee) Green, Jackie (Kevin) Robertson, and Mary (Paul) Ritchie; and Herbert, Jr. (Sunnee) Davison of Lincoln and their family Angel (Rich) Edwards, Elisha Davison, Tiffany Davison and Heather Davison. Sister Merle "Buddy" Basil of Syracuse, NY. Sister-in-law Imogene Davison of Ogallala. Special Friend Sylvia Peters of Ogallala. 35 great-grandchildren, and 44 great-great-
grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family chose cremation. The memorial service will be Tuesday, May 29, at 10 a.m. in the Ogallala New Hope Church with Rev. Eric Wait officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
