Obituary from the Ogden Standard Examiner

Bernard James Cragun

On April 18, 2012 our dad was called home. He was born April 28, 1942 in Ogden, Utah to Bernard Lee and Margaret Rhees Cragun. He was a lifelong resident of Pleasant View, Utah. He graduated from Weber High. Dad was an Eagle Scout and he was very proud of this accomplishment. Being a brick mason and contactor for over 50 years, his brickwork can be seen on many homes throughout Weber County and surrounding areas.

Dad was a member of the Wasatch Slopes Cutter Racing Association. He loved his Chariot and Flat Track racing horses. Dad made many friends in Utah, Idaho and Nevada while racing horses. You never knew what Bernard, Keith and Warren were up to, and more often than not, it was better not to know.

Bernard was an avid hunter. He was always happy being up in the mountains with his boys and many hunting partners or stomping out in the fields hunting pheasants. He loved his cowherd and especially in the spring when the baby calves were born.

Dad married Nancy Cutler on October 27, 1960 in Corinne, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Nancy and three children: Bart (DeAnn), Becky, and Blake (Debbie); grandson, Kyler; 2 step grandchildren, CJ (Ramie) Lindsay and Christy (Josh) Anderson; 3 great-grandsons, Jesse and Kelton Lindsay, Braxton Anderson and nephews and nieces who loved their Grandpa Bernard. He is also survived by a brother, Keith (DeAnna) and 2 sisters, Barbara and Christine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, LeAnn.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. Lindquist's North Ogden, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.

Our sincere and deep gratitude goes to the Hospice of Northern Utah, group especially Eileen, Julie, Holley, Kathy, Dana, Camrie, and Nancy. Not only did they care for our dad, but they took exceptionally good care of our mom, for this we are truly grateful.
