BENJAMIN BOONE DIES THURSDAY
Benjamin Earl Boone, 73, died in his sleep early Thursday morning, February 13, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Jack Cummings, with whom he lived four miles east of Readsville.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Bethany Church at 2 o'clock. The body lay in state at the Baker Funeral Home at Americus.
Born on January 25, 1870, near Readsville, he was the son of Ben and Elvira Thornhill Boone. He was married to the former Miss Mattie Thompson who died in October 1935. He was a farmer in the Readsville community.
In addition to Mrs. Cummings, he is survived by a son Charles Boone of east of Readsville; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Arnold of Mokane, Mrs. Victor Moore of Hannibal and Mrs. Clifford Davis of Readsville; two brothers; Harvey Boone of Whitehall, Illinois and Clarence Boone of Mokane; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Earlie Boone, who died in 1933, and two brothers, Herbert and Less Boone.
On September 01, 1909 Benjamin Earl Boone married Mattie Cleo Thompson in Montgomery County, Missouri.
