Russell M Summers, 71, husband of Mary E Marshall Summers, died at his home on Franklin St., in Fairfield Sunday morning at 8:30. He had been in ill health for the last two years with a heart condition.
A native of liberty Twp., he was a son of the late Charles and Alverta Loy Summers, and was an electrician and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairfield.
He served in the Army during World War I, inducted on August 15, 1918 and was discharged
December 1, 1918. He served as a private with Battery F, 30th Regiment, CAC. He was a member of the Albert J Lentz post of the American Legion of Gettysburg, the Gettysburg Barracks of the Veterans of World War I and was a social member of the Fairfield Fire Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Russell M Summers Jr., Fairfield, and Donald A Summers, Chevy Chase, Md.; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters and three brothers;
Mrs. William Emenheiser, and Mrs. Albert Wehrheim, both of Baltimore; Harry Summers, Donald and Therman all of Waynesboro.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Fairfield, with his pastor the Rev. Lloyd H Seiler officiating. Interment in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
