HARTFORD — J T Barnard, 93, of Beaver Dam passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Dogwood Estates in Beaver Dam. He was born May 15, 1919, to the late Henry Guy Barnard and Grace Elizabeth Shultz Barnard. Mr. Barnard retired from the Ohio County School System in 1980. He taught science at Hartford High School from 1952-1966 and Ohio County High School from 1966-1980. He was a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a member of the Ohio County Retired Teachers Association. His first job was with the federal government doing on-farm training for veterans returning from World War II.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Mr. Barnard's friends at Dogwood Assisted Living.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Waters Barnard, on Dec. 8, 2007; one son, Michael Waters Barnard, on Nov. 20, 1992; and one daughter, Dinah Barnard Monroe on June 22, 2011.
Survivors include one grandson, Joe Michael Barnard and his wife, Kristina, and two great-grandsons, John Thomas Barnard and Grayden Barnard, all of Beaver Dam.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford with Brother Scott Fleener officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Thursday. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
