Mr. Cecil N. Cook, born Feb 14, 1905 in Lufkin, TX died Tuesday Aug 12, 1980. Survived by wife Mrs. Maxine L Cook; sons James Randolph Cook, and Richard Nash Cook; sisters Mrs. Ned Shands Jr, and Mrs Don I Drummond; brothers Claude D Cook, Morris G Cook, and D Truett Cook. Was preceded in death by a daughter, Lauralea Maxine Cook. Pre College Schooling was in Angelina County from 1910 to 1929 with honors, then University of Texas - LLB from 1920 to 1926 with honors and Rhoades Scholarship S.W.Region. Member of Athletic Council. Career included : Assistant District Attorney Ft Worth Texas 1926; Associate and partner in law firms Ft Worth, San Antonio, and Longview Texas 1928-1934. Partner in law firms in Houston Texas 1935-1944. Partner in Butler, Binion, Rice, Cook & Knapp in Houston TX 1945 to date. Joined the First Baptist Church in Lufkin in 1912 and a Baptist church at each other residence. Was Special Assistant Attorney General of Texas 1954. Houston Bar Association President 1954-1955; Chairman of Mineral Section, State Bar of Texas 1957-1958; Founder and Trustee Houston Baptist University 1958-1968 and Vice Chairman 1965-1968. Founder and all non-salaried positions for men, River Oaks Baptist Church 1955 to date. Director of River Oaks Property Owners Inc from 1960-1963 and President in 1963. Chairman of the board Houston Law Review 1970-1978. Chairman of Trustees South Texas College of Law 1973-1979. Member Advisory Committe on Rules of Civil Procedure to Supreme Court of Texas 1950-1978. Trustee Edna Gladney Home in Ft Worth Texas 1950 to date. Was a lecturer and Author - Dallas 1952 and New York 1957 and 1974. Member of American.....
