PIONEER IS CALLED FROM LIFE SATURDAY
William Thomas Hilderbrand, 75, pioneer Willacy County farmer, suddenly died of a heart attack in his room at the Mills Hotel Saturday afternoon, January 15, 1958, about 5 o'clock. He was born July 28,1882 in Red River County Texas and married Stella Frances Knox in Breckenridge on February 21, 1916. They had no children. She preceded him in death in 1938. Mr. Hilderbrand had lived in Willacy County since January of 1920, having moved here from Breckenridge. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Duddleaton Funeral Chapel with Ray Beeson, minister of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Raymondville Cemetery. Pallbearers were H.R. Moon, T.P. McKee, Luther Knox, F.E. Ellis, Clyde Parker, and N.E. Duncan.
Tom farmed and lived on land in the Santa Margarita community that had originally been a part of the Milburn Knox estate. He and Stella were among the 38 members of the Knox family that came to Willacy County on January 4, 1920. For most of his years he drove and old Model A coupe from the 1930's or maybe the 1920's.
