Harold J. "Chick" Holtgrave, 72, 1309 S. Sixth St., died Thursday, April 12, 1990, at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Administration Medical Center at Leavenworth.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Becker-Stanton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Harry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Mr. Holtgrave was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Doniphan County, the son of William J. and Goran Fitch Holtgrave. He attended Pleasant Ridge Grade School.
He farmed in Doniphan County most of his life. After retiring from farming he worked as the caretaker at Warnock Lake for several years.
Mr. Holtgrave was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of VFW Post No. 1175 at Atchison and former member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He married Lillie Mae Thiel on Nov. 28, 1945, at Bendena. She preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 1979.
Survivors include a son; a brother; a sister; and a grandson.
