William "Bill" Fitch Holtgrave, 81, Atchison, died Sunday, Oct. 1, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. Mo.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Atchison Humane Society of Camp Creek Methodist and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Holtgrave was employed with Missouri Pacific Railroad for 38 years as a car man, retiring in 1984.
He was born June 28, 1925, in Bendena, the son of William J. and Georgia Anne Fitch Holtgrave.
He enjoyed camping, wintering in Texas and spending time with his dogs.
Mr. Holtgrave married Doris Lee Wohlgemuth on Nov. 13, 1948, at the Camp Creek parsonage. She survives of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold J. and Alfred J. Holtgrave.
Additional survivors include a daughter and her husband; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
