James Minoru Tamekazu, 67, of Ventura, died Friday, April 2, 2010, following a brief respiratory illness.
He was born Nov. 12, 1942 on Kauai, Hawaii, and lived in Ventura County for 25 years. James served in the United States Air Force, from which he retired as a major in 1985. He was Chief Deputy Auditor-Controller for the County of Ventura, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed golf, traveling, and was a fan of both the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.
James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pearl; daughter, Audrey Tamekazu of Goose Creek, South Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Lyndon Duggs of Antioch; and grandsons, Marcus and Jason. His mother, a brother, three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ; Make-A-Wish Foundation of America; or Food Share, Inc., Regional Food Bank of Ventura County.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
