Bernice was born to Raymond and Ada Rice. When she was 15 years old, she met and soon thereafter married her soul mate, William "Bill" Carmicheal. Bernice traveled with, supported and raised their children while Bill was serving with the U. S. Army for 21 years. They later settled in Houston and then Richmond. Bernice is survived by her loving children, Gail A. Shores and husband, Richard, Bruce Carmicheal and wife, Patty, Gary Carmicheal, Constance Paxton and husband, Kenneth, and Larry Carmicheal; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
