Mary was born to Leland Caspar and Blanche Vera Fink. A lifelong resident of Houston, she moved to LifeCare Center in 2002 to be closer to family. She is survived by her son George V. Berg, Jr. and wife Shirley of Boulder, son John Leland Berg and wife Cindy of Louisville, and five grandchildren and their respective spouses: Ben and Amanda Berg Wilson of Chicago, Justin and Sally Piskun Berg of Lafayette, Shane and Katie Berg Murphy of Louisville, Matt and Laura Berg Krauss of Dallas, John Berg of Dallas, and one great-grandson, Gus Berg of Lafayette. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, George V. Berg, Sr., and her parents and siblings. Mary was a loving and caring daughter, a devoted wife, a doting mother, an affectionate grandmother, and a grateful great-grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader, and as long as health permitted, a dedicated volunteer in her church and community. She cherished her family, friends, and her church community at Garden Oaks Baptist Church in Houston where she was a member for almost 50 years. It could rightly be said that Mary never met a stranger. The residents and staff at LifeCare Center soon became friends when she moved to Colorado in 2002. Mary loved teaching children at church and as an employee of the Houston Independent School District where she worked for more than 20 years. Mary's family, faith, and friends were her life, and she will be remembered by all as a person of great faith, a strong will, and a caring and optimistic spirit.
