MADISON - Carol Jean Wessbecher Andreano, age 72, died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at St. Mary's Care Center in Fitchburg.
Carol was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 24, 1931. Carol graduated from Drury College in Springfield, Mo., in 1953. She attended Washington University in St. Louis and Northwestern University.
She taught grade school for many years in Glencoe, Ill. Carol was active in the Madison schools while her children were enrolled and continued to stay involved throughout her lifetime.
She was an energetic patron and supporter of the Music and Arts in Madison and elsewhere. Carol was a beloved figure in the Vilas neighborhood; loved by all for her great spirit, good nature, loving and tender personality and her generosity.
She was famous for never having driven a car and her lengthy and hearty walks to all parts of the city. Carol was a loving friend to all animals, and many found shelter in her beautiful hands.
Her many friends in Madison and elsewhere in the world mourn her untimely death to brain cancer and wish her bon voyage into her next life. Her family loved her dearly and will miss her forever.
Carol is survived by her husband, Ralph; her daughter, Maria Andreano-Beirne; her son, Nicholas; her granddaughter, Talia Marie Andreano-Beirne; her brother, Albert Wessbecher of Brecksville, Ohio; as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces scattered throughout the country and the world.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A private family burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.
