Elizabeth G. Bongirno Age 93, passed away on March 4, 2002. Born in Pueblo to Mary Jane (Cochran) and William H. Gust on Sept. 19, 1908. A proud graduate of Central High School, class of 1926, Mrs. Bongirno attended Western State College, earning a Life Certificate in education. She was married to James L. Bongirno on Aug. 6, 1934. She taught at Minnequa School before her marriage and at Lincoln School for 22 years beginning in 1948. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Retired School Employees Association. After her retirement in 1970, she served as a volunteer at Lincoln School and Loaves and Fishes. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 63 years, James L. Bongirno; son-in-law, Ronald T. Kink; sisters, Beatrice Lane, Esther Gust and Florine Fisher; and brothers, Sterling, Joseph, William and John Gust. Survivors include daughters, Mary (William) Hodges, Pueblo; Elizabeth Kink, Palos Park, Ill.; and Annalee (Wagner) Schorr, Denver; grandchildren, Lauretta (Jeffrey) Garren, Michael (MiChele) Stefanic II, Michael (Karen) Kink, John (Misty) Kink, James (Dawn) Kink, William Kink, Wagner Schorr III and Kathryn (Gregory) Schorr-Winchell; great-grandchildren, Lara and Kari Garren, Michael and Matthew Stefanic, Maxwell, Dylan and Jasper Kink, Julia and Karina Schorr and Calla and Savannah Winchell. Also surviving are in-laws Lillie Bongirno, Pueblo, and Kelly (Ann) Bongirno, California; special niece, Joy (Bob) Graham; other nieces, nephews and relatives. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday at George McCarthy Historic Chapel. The family will greet friends following the service. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Monday at 10 a.m., by Father John Farley, with internment at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of food and flowers, memorial gifts to the Central High School Foundation Scholarship Fund or to the Holy Family Parish Youth Program would be most welcome. The family wishes to thank Barry Rapp, M.D., J. Kevin Johnson, M.D., and the staff at Life Care for their loving efforts on Mrs. Bongirno's behalf.
