Sister Mary Edna Taylor, age 58, 1018 Grandview Blvd, a member of the Order of the Sisters of Charity of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary, died Tuesday in a Sioux City Hospital, after a short illness, Sept 7, 1982.
Services were helo at 10:00 am Friday at the Cathedral of the Epiphany, Monsigno Louis H. Kollasch officiated.
Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. The rosary was recited at 7:00 pm on Sept 9, 1982 by the Epiphany Grade School. Students and former students rected the rosary at 8:00 pm, the Parish at the Larkin Funeral Home.
Mary Edna Taylor was born October 2, 1923 in Bonesteel, South Dakota. The date on her grave marker of 1940 refers to the date she entered the order of the Sisters of Charity, BVM. She attended Bonesteel Public School and graduated from Cathedral High School in Rapid City, in 1940, She graduated from Clark College in Dubuque, Iowa and received her Masters Degree in History from Creighton University University ahe also attended Marquette University.
She entered the Oders of the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Sept 8, 1940 at Mount Carmen in Dubuque, Iowa.
Her first teaching assignment was at the Ephiphany School in 1943. She left Sioux City in 1945 and taught in Illinois, Wisconsin, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Iowa. She returned to Sioux City in 1969 where she taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades at the Ephiphany Grade School, until she assumed the secreterial and office duties at the school in the late 1970s. She also taught religion to the primary grades.
She was a member of he Cathedrial of the Ephiphany.
