Mrs. Emma Cahoon, wife of M. M. Cahoon, passed away Saturday afternoon at the family residence on Reecer Creek after an illness she had endured for the past 18 years.
Mrs. Cahoon was a pioneer of the valley, having come here in 1878 and had resided here continuously since that date. She was born in Cowlitz Prairie, Lewis County, on December 6, 1857. She married Mr. Cahoon December 6, 1875. She was one of a family of 11 children. Her father crossed the plains in 1852.
Surviving Mrs. Cahoon are her husband and three children, Mrs. J. O. Moen of Ellensburg. Elmer Cahoon of South Fort George, B. C., and Mrs. Virgil Spurling of Cle Elum. There also are 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Keith and Mrs. M. Harrison, both of Aberdeen, and one brother, Grant Barton, survive also.
The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church with interment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. The Rev. J. W. Caughlan will officiate.
