Last Tuesday John H. Crawford died at the Ellensburg hospital, having been taken there from his home on the Nanum. His illness was short but severe and his death was not expected. He was one of the pioneers of Kittitas Valley, having lived here for 29 years. He was about 76 years of age. He is survived by a widow and three sons who are well known here. He was buried from the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, many attending from his large circle of friends.
Mr. Crawford was born in Illinois, May 9, 1882. In early manhood he emigrated to Wisconsin and from there in 1852 he went to Oregon, arriving in the Willamette Valley on the 4th day of July. There he engaged in farming and stockraising. In 1859 he returned to Wisconsin where he was married to Miss Hannah Woods. Leaving his wife in Wisconsin where she remained for five years, he returned to Oregon. Later he emigrated to Idaho. He came in 1879 to Kittitas County and settled on a farm 6 miles north east of Ellensburg, where the family have since lived. He leaves three sons, George, Phillip and Jesse.
