Charles Gipson died Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Veteran's Administration hospital in Cheyenne Wyoming, following several years of failing heath. He was 80.
Born at Pinecamp, Nebraska on March 14, 1888 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. After the war in 1919, he returned to Nebraska, he then moved to Cheyenne and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1941 until 1953. At that time he retired and moved to Longmont, Colorado.
He married Doris Bahr at Winner, South Dakota on March 8, 1922. She survives at the Longmont home, 547 Martin Street.
Also surviving are three sons, Vernon H. of Portland, Oregon; Louis S. of Santa Ana, California; and Charles G. of Marysville, Washington; three daughters; Mrs Getha Sherwood of Fort Collins, Colorado; Miss Naomi Gipson; and Mrs Winona Bostron, both of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one brother Elmer of Nevada, Missouri; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr Gipson was a member of the American Legion of Longmont, Colorado.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Lewellen Chapel, burial followed at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver with military honors.
