Emily is survived by her children, Dr. Loretto Maldonado of Boca Raton, FL and William Maldonado of Albuquerque, Curt (Jeannine) Comstock of Albuquerque, grandchildren, Dr. Mica Comstock of Linkoping, Sweden, Jordan (Brian) Shaughnessy of Boston, MA and Tamara and Amy Maldonado of Pueblo, CO, six great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Emily was born to Miguel García and Sofia Romero on January 12, 1918 in Wagon Mound, NM.
At age 2, she and her family moved to Trinidad, CO where she graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1936. Father Sebastiani, S.J., married her and Ernest Maldonado in Holy Trinity Catholic Church on September 30, 1939. Emily was a consistent participant at the annual parish bazaar to raise money for the Catholic school where she also served as President of the Holy Trinity School Association. Her memberships included the Catholic Daughters, the VFW Auxiliary, the Elk Ladies and La Estrellita Club. Emily enjoyed soap operas, gardening, cooking and helping others. The Maldonado family moved to Albuquerque in August of 1984. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2006, with ennichment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
