George Washington was the son of Simpson Holiday & Ritter (Burchett) Dyer.
His first marriage was to Sarah "Sally" Counts (daughter of Joshua & Margaret Fannin Counts) in Russell Co, VA, on March 12, 1868. Their children were: Malissa Clementine and Alvin Scott.
Sally died on July 27, 1874. His second marriage was to Arminda Elswick in Russell Co, VA, on February 27, 1879. Their children were: Henrietta, William Ayers, & Simpson L.
They lived on a farm, which included the present town of McClure.
George served in the Confederate Army. He was a photographer & constable of Ervinton District, Dickenson Co. He was an active member in the fraternal order of Odd Fellows.
